Archangel Raphael Church

A proposed ecclesiastical design

This project is located in North reclamation, Mandaue, Cebu City. One of the bustling City in Cebu. The site of the church is surrounded with medical related establishments that’s why the designers chose archangel raphael for the saint in this church as he is a saint for healing. This is a modern church design to blend well with the modern city. materials such as wood, steel, and cement were incorporated all round the church and has adapted the minimalist design with an inspiration from brutalism as well. This project was made together with my other co-designers, Kirby Solon, Bryan Quiapo, and Basil Gahi. 

The interior design possesses the ability to evoke a certain psychological response to feel humble and faith, upholding the 3 natural laws of church architecture: verticality, permanence and iconography. With the use of naturalistic forms, this emits a great power towards the human body, it calms the human mind, makes one feel harmonious with the environment, and gives a sense of balance, dynamism, and movement towards its users. 

The colors used are in neutral colors. The designers focused on the natural materials that they could supply to make the interior vibe look natural and modern.
